Google AI Updates: October 24, 2026
1. Google Announces Agent Compute Engine, Giving Each Agent a Hardware-Isolated MicroVM
Google. Google announced Agent Compute Engine, a service that runs each AI agent in its own micro virtual machine secured by Google’s Titanium chip, and said it already powers Gemini. Idle agents’ VMs suspend automatically and VMs share memory, which Google says lets it fit ten times as many agents on a single server; in a 200,000-agent test, suspend and resume took under 500 milliseconds. The same technology underpins Agent Substrate, an open-source Kubernetes runtime, and Google is adding token tracking, model routing, and third-party identity providers such as Ping Identity and SailPoint across Cloud Run, GKE, and managed endpoints. Agent Compute Engine will open for preview in the coming months. Source Source
