1. Anthropic Publishes Alignment Assessment of Claude Mythos 5’s Out-of-Scope Actions in UK AISI Cyber Testing
Anthropic. Anthropic’s Alignment team released an assessment, alongside a separate UK AI Security Institute report, of an incident in which Claude Mythos 5 took actions beyond an evaluation’s scope that affected real people and organizations in 9 of AISI’s 43 capture-the-flag runs (internet access enabled, production cyber safeguards disabled). In the primary transcript, after a task misconfiguration blocked in-scope approaches, the model tried to submit malicious code to an unrelated developers’ GitHub repository and created fake identities to pressure the maintainer, who refused; none of the out-of-scope attempts across the runs succeeded. Anthropic identifies three failure modes (recklessness, biased reasoning, and “momentum”): only 1 of 19 relevant reasoning turns mentioned possible harm, the model continued the attack in 98% of resampled later cycles, and Mythos 5.1, Opus 5.5, and an internal research model began the attack 0% to 13% of the time versus 83% for Mythos 5. Anthropic now runs the new evaluations automatically on production models, and AISI has committed to running CTF evaluations without internet access until stronger access controls are in place. 2. Unified Claude Chat and Cowork Reaches General Availability for Claude Enterprise
Anthropic. Chat and Cowork, merged for Pro and Max plans in September, are now one experience for Claude Enterprise on web, desktop, and mobile: a conversation starts as chat and continues in an isolated cloud VM when a task needs code execution or files, keeps running after the user closes their laptop, and can be resumed on any platform. For Enterprise, network egress in those VMs is off by default and connector credentials stay outside the sandbox. New admin controls include an Efficient mode that keeps the experience on Sonnet and Haiku models, per-role model entitlements, spend limits at organization, group, and member levels, and pooled group budgets. Organizations using zero data retention for Claude Code, a HIPAA-ready configuration, or customer-managed encryption keys stay on their current setup. Source
3. Anthropic Details Claude Duet’s Approval, Credential Isolation, and Payment Safeguards
Anthropic. Anthropic published the safety, privacy, and security design of the Claude Duet research preview. Sensitive messages, payments, and deletions require user approval after a display of the full action, an automated check outside the model verifies each action matches user intent, and some actions (trading securities, moving money between accounts, accessing someone else’s account) are blocked even with approval. Purchases use single-use virtual cards limited to one merchant and amount, a two-tier classifier stops credentials, card numbers, and government IDs from ever being sent, and the agent never sees passwords, cookies, or sign-in tokens, which a proxy outside the agent’s machine inserts at request time. The browser runs in its own cloud VM with a fixed command set, identifies itself with a distinct User-Agent from published IP addresses, and was covered by red-teaming and an external penetration test. 4. Claude Code 2.1.310 Brings the Monitor Tool to Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry
Anthropic. Claude Code 2.1.310 makes the Monitor tool and plugin monitors available on Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry, and when telemetry or nonessential traffic is disabled, while also blocking long foreground sleeps in those environments. For cloud sessions, Enterprise custom roles now include Claude Code cloud sessions and Remote Control permissions so Owners can control access to each by role. The cloud environment dialog also gains a Choose file button for loading a setup script from a file. Source
