AWS AI Updates: October 24, 2026

1. Bedrock Web Search Adds Domain Filtering and User Location Controls

AWS. Web Search on Amazon Bedrock now offers two new controls over the results that ground a model’s response, both set directly on the web_search tool in an OpenAI Responses API request. Using the filters parameter, developers can specify up to 100 allowed_domains to restrict results to trusted sources, or up to 100 blocked_domains to exclude unwanted ones. An optional user location parameter returns results relevant to a given geography for location-dependent questions. Both controls are available in every Region where Web Search is supported: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and AWS GovCloud (US-West). Source

2. OpenSearch Serverless Intelligent Ingestion Turns S3 Logs and Documents Into Embedded, Searchable Indexes

AWS. Amazon OpenSearch Serverless (NextGen) collections now support intelligent ingestion, a fully managed feature that converts logs and documents in Amazon S3 into searchable content with a few console clicks or a single API call. It handles JSON, NDJSON, and JSON array data as well as PDF, Word, plain text, and Markdown files, automatically detecting data types, parsing documents while preserving headings, reading order, and tables, chunking text, generating vector embeddings, and indexing the results for semantic and hybrid search. A vision-language model writes text descriptions of charts, diagrams, screenshots, and photos so visual content becomes searchable too. Ingestion jobs cover one-time loads such as backfills, ingestion streams keep an index in sync as new objects arrive (including from cross-account buckets), and customers pay only for active processing in seven Regions at launch.
