1. Anthropic’s Science Team Uses Claude to Find, Produce and Solve Structures of Bacterial and Phage Vault Particles

Anthropic published a November 4 research post from its Science team on a project, completed in under four months, in which Claude did much of the search, design and data processing work on vaults, the large hollow protein shells of still unknown function found in nearly all eukaryotic cells. Claude searched about 15 billion predicted proteins and found vault protein relatives in 29 bacterial and four archaeal phyla (but in fewer than 1% of species with sequenced genomes), converted 44 chosen sequences into host-tailored DNA designs (15 of 24 candidates produced soluble protein in E. coli), and proposed a purification route that cut purification from about three days to about 90 minutes. Working in an internal multi-agent harness on hundreds of GPUs, Claude ran the RELION cryo-EM pipeline while researchers advised on analysis decisions, producing a first structural model in 34 hours. The phage vault L05 is built from 96 copies of a single protein (about 9.5 megadaltons), has seven repeating wall segments instead of the mammalian nine and encloses about 25% more volume; seven of 15 tested proteins formed vault-like particles, cryo-EM confirmed the vault shape for four, and duplicating two wall segments raised enclosed volume by about 20%. The post also lists Claude’s mistakes, including a protocol additive that blocked DNA entry and cost two weeks and a skipped standard step that produced a map blended with its mirror image, and notes that the particles have only been made in E. coli; a technical report has been submitted to bioRxiv, with data and structures to follow. 2. Claude Marketplace Adds 14 Partner Listings for Security, Developer Infrastructure, Creative and Productivity Work

Anthropic announced a batch of new partner listings on Claude Marketplace on November 4, saying the marketplace now carries more than 25 partner agents and products. The security listings are Chainguard Harness (builds an application from source in an isolated microVM and tests the running app for exploitable vulnerabilities), Checkmarx One, Cyera Agent Guardian (inventories Claude deployments and enforces policy on prompts, files and tool calls before Claude runs), Rubrik Code Guardian (reviews a secure copy of GitHub or Azure DevOps repositories for multi-step attack paths and turns confirmed critical findings into tickets) and Tanium Cloud. Development infrastructure adds Datadog Agent Observability (traces agent execution across tools and services) and Netlify Enterprise; marketing and creative adds AirOps, Runway and Webflow; productivity adds Asana AI Teammates, Glean, monday agents and Zoom Agentic Search. Eligible enterprise customers can apply part of their committed Anthropic spend to these products, so a single commitment covers both Claude and partner tools; the post gives no per-product pricing and does not say which plans or regions are supported. Listings are at claude.com/marketplace/agents-products, where customers submit a request to buy. Source

3. Anthropic Reportedly Paid the AP to License Content Before the Midterms, Its First Deal With a Digital News Publisher

Anthropic struck a content licensing deal with the Associated Press shortly before the US midterm elections, Adweek reported on November 4, citing sources; it is the first time Anthropic has paid a digital news publisher to license its content. The Verge, citing Adweek, ties the deal to Election Night, when users asked Claude for the latest updates. The AP has licensed part of its text archive to OpenAI since July 2023. Anthropic’s newsroom had not announced the deal as of November 5. The Verge Adweek
