1. GitHub Copilot Comes to Xcode’s Built-In Coding Assistant in Public Preview, Starting With Xcode 27.3 Beta

GitHub made GitHub Copilot available inside Xcode’s built-in coding assistant as a public preview, starting with the Xcode 27.3 beta, so developers can use Copilot in Apple’s native Xcode workflow. Setup requires downloading the Xcode 27.3 beta from Apple Developer Downloads on a Mac running macOS Tahoe 26.6 or later, then configuring GitHub Copilot under Xcode > Settings > Intelligence. All Copilot plans are supported. The existing GitHub Copilot for Xcode extension remains available as a separate option, and GitHub is collecting feedback through the GitHub Copilot for Xcode repository and Apple Feedback Assistant. 2. VS Code 1.145 Lets One Agent Session Mix Copilot, Claude and Codex Harnesses and Adds Cron Schedules for Automations

Microsoft released Visual Studio Code 1.145 on November 4. In preview behind chat.agentHost.multipleChatProviders.enabled, nested chats inside one session can now use a different agent harness than their parent, so a developer can have Claude review a plan that a Copilot chat wrote or give Codex the same task side by side, with each chat keeping its own model, agent and permission levels. Remote agent sessions can now load pages and canvases through the remote agent host (behind workbench.browser.enableRemoteProxy), so a dev server the agent starts on a remote machine can be previewed in the Agents window. Local automations now accept five-field cron expressions and workspace custom agents (cron is not available for cloud automations), and an experimental chat.persistentProgressVerbosity setting switches chat between Conversation, Compact and Verbose views of the agent’s reasoning and tool calls. For enterprises, the managed allowedMcpServers list now takes precedence over registry-only MCP access for servers that VS Code starts, so an approved server can run without being published to the organization’s registry, and MCP apps can now register tools that the model can call.
