AWS AI Updates: October 27, 2026

1. OpenAI GPT-6.1 Terra Reaches General Availability on Amazon Bedrock

AWS made OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Terra generally available on Amazon Bedrock. It is the newest model in OpenAI’s mid-tier Terra line and adds visual reasoning, computer use, and better factuality and writing over GPT-5.6 Terra. AWS says it scored 15 percentage points higher than GPT-5.6 Terra on OpenAI’s Agents’ Last Exam evaluation, matched GPT-6 Astra, and finished tasks more than three times faster than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. Input and output token prices are at least 50% lower than GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-5.6 Terra. The model supports up to 1 million input tokens with text and image input. It can be called through the Bedrock APIs, and ChatGPT Work and Codex can be configured to use it on Bedrock. Source

2. Amazon Connect Customer Tests Can Now Check What Agentic CX Blocks and Lex Intents Return

AWS extended testing and simulation in Amazon Connect Customer, which AWS positions as its agentic AI customer experience product. Tests could previously confirm only that a flow action started. They can now also check the data the action returns when it finishes, such as the variables set by an Agentic CX block, the intent resolved by Amazon Lex, or a Lambda function’s response. When a test fails, it points to the action that returned the unexpected result, so teams no longer have to trace back from a later step. Region availability is listed in the Connect Customer feature-by-Region guide. Source
