1. Azure AI Speech LLM 09-2026 Adds 25 Languages and Up to 2x Faster Transcription

Microsoft. Microsoft released version 09-2026 of the Azure AI Speech LLM behind the Fast Transcription API. It adds 25 languages, including 11 Indic languages such as Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, plus Catalan, Malay, and Welsh, for 50 languages across 60+ locales. Against the prior 2607 version, Microsoft reports up to 25% better token error rate, up to 37% better entity error rate, and up to 2x faster processing, especially for 5 to 10 second clips at high concurrency. The update deploys automatically on the service side, multilingual mode is the default, and phrase lists accept up to 2,000 entries. Source
