1. Anthropic Commits $100 Million to Train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by 2027

Anthropic. Anthropic launched Claude Frontier Academy, a $100 million program that aims to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers (FDEs) at customers and partners by the end of 2027, with first cohorts drawn from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk. The first program, the FDE Residency, starts with a multi-day in-person course built around a simulated enterprise deployment and a graded practical, after which passing engineers earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge and spend 12 weeks leading a real Claude project at their own organization with support from Anthropic engineers. Engineers who pass a final assessment receive the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge, with the first expected in early 2027. Cohorts are running in San Francisco, New York, and London, and participation is by organizational nomination. Source

2. Claude Code 2.1.288 Adds Prompt Recovery, /code-review --max-findings, and a Selection API for Mods

Claude Code 2.1.288, tagged October 2, added $.ui.selection() for mods, which returns the text last selected in fullscreen mode along with the transcript row when the selection sits within one. A prompt cleared with Ctrl+C can now be restored by pressing Up on the empty prompt, including pasted text and images, and /code-review accepts --max-findings <n>|all to report more or fewer findings than the default limit. The release also adds a re-authenticate prompt when an MCP server requests more OAuth scope mid tool call, a built-in gh api for cloud sessions without the GitHub CLI, and Ctrl+F session search plus Alt+Up/Down group navigation in the agents view.
