AWS AI Updates: July 3, 2026
1. SageMaker Unified Studio Adds Terraform Provisioning
AWS. Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio now supports provisioning through an open-source Terraform module, letting platform teams deploy domains using version-controlled templates for consistency across development, staging, and production environments. The terraform-aws-sagemaker-unified-studio module handles domain provisioning with IAM role management, blueprint enablement, project profile composition, and independent project creation, and it can reuse existing IAM roles through the Terraform AWS Cloud Control Provider. The capability is available in all AWS Regions where SageMaker Unified Studio operates. Source
2. SageMaker HyperPod Introduces AMI Versioning and Auto-Patching
AWS. Amazon SageMaker HyperPod added AMI versioning and auto-patching to simplify infrastructure management for foundation model training and deployment at scale. AMI versioning exposes machine image versions in semantic versioning format so administrators can detect version drift and roll back to a previous version, including NVIDIA drivers and CUDA software, through the UpdateClusterSoftware API. Auto-patching is an opt-in, per-instance-group feature that applies only backward-compatible security patches as nodes become idle, leaving running workloads undisrupted and never upgrading components to a different major or minor version. It is available in all AWS Regions where HyperPod supports clusters orchestrated by Amazon EKS. Source
3. AWS Artifact Launches AI-Powered Assurance Assistant
AWS. AWS Artifact introduced Assurance Assistant, an AI-powered capability that answers compliance and security inquiries with citation-backed responses drawn from verified AWS compliance documentation such as SOC reports, ISO certifications, and C5 attestation packages. It operates in two modes, answering individual questions instantly and processing bulk questionnaire files in formats including CAIQ and SIG, and users can export responses with or without citations in the original file format. Access is governed by two new IAM policies, and the feature is available at no additional charge through the AWS Artifact console in all commercial AWS Regions. Source
