Vercel AI Updates: June 10, 2026
1. Claude Fable 5 Lands on AI Gateway
Vercel. Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5, a Mythos-class model, is now available through Vercel’s AI Gateway. Vercel describes the model as suited to long-running, ambiguous, multi-step tasks that sustain productive output across multi-day runs, and notes it includes safety classifiers. Prompts and completions are retained for 30 days and are not used for training. Source
2. AI Gateway Adds Spending Budgets for API Keys
Vercel. AI Gateway now supports spending caps on individual API keys, letting developers set daily, weekly, or monthly limits through the dashboard or CLI. Vercel positions the feature as a guardrail for token-heavy workflows and autonomous systems that could otherwise consume budget unexpectedly. Source
3. June Production Index Shows DeepSeek Gaining Token Share
Vercel. Vercel’s monthly AI Gateway Production Index reports that DeepSeek V4 captured 17 percent of token volume in May while accounting for only about 1 percent of spend. Anthropic retained roughly 65 percent of overall spend, remaining dominant in high-stakes use cases such as coding agents. Source
