1. Google Launches Gemini 3.5 Live Translate for Near Real-Time Speech-to-Speech Translation

Google. Google introduced Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, an audio model that performs near real-time speech-to-speech translation across more than 70 languages while preserving a speaker’s intonation, pacing, and pitch. The system detects languages automatically and produces translated speech continuously rather than waiting for full sentences. It is available to developers through the Gemini Live API and Google AI Studio, to enterprises via a private preview in Google Meet, and to all users in the Google Translate app on Android and iOS. 2. Google DeepMind Opens a Robotics Accelerator for European Startups

Google. Google DeepMind launched a three-month accelerator program to support 15 early-stage robotics startups across Europe. Selected companies receive mentorship, technical guidance, and access to Google’s AI stack and Gemini robotics models to build physical AI applications in areas such as healthcare, manufacturing, and climate solutions. The program is aimed at helping participants move robotics research into real-world deployment. Source

3. Google DeepMind Reports Learning Gains From Gemini Guided Learning Trial in Sierra Leone

Google. Google DeepMind published results from a randomized controlled trial of Guided Learning in Gemini involving 1,763 junior secondary students across 12 schools in Sierra Leone’s Port Loko District. Over an eight-week math program, students using the tool achieved gains the study equated to roughly 1.2 to 1.7 years of typical learning progress. An analysis of 113,000 interactions found students built conceptual understanding in 91.4% of conversations, with Gemini using Socratic scaffolding questions in 76% of its responses. Source
