1. Apple Details New AI Developer Tooling at the 2026 Platforms State of the Union

Apple. At its 2026 Platforms State of the Union, Apple expanded the Foundation Models framework with free Private Cloud Compute access for developers with fewer than two million App Store downloads, added image inputs, third-party model integration for Claude and Gemini, and a Dynamic Profiles system for multi-agent workflows. The company also introduced a new Core AI framework for running custom on-device models with ahead-of-time compilation and Python tools to convert PyTorch models to Apple silicon, and said its MLX framework now supports Metal 4 and model training across multiple Macs via RDMA over Thunderbolt. Xcode 27 was shown with expanded agentic coding, letting agents interact with simulators, localize apps, run tests, and fix crashes. Source
