LangChain AI Updates: October 18, 2026

1. Deep Agents 0.7.27 Keeps the Main Agent Informed of Async Subagent Status

LangChain. The deepagents 0.7.27 release, published October 16, makes the main agent receive status updates from asynchronous subagents while they run, so the orchestrating agent no longer has to wait blind on background work. The release also fixes subagent names not being passed through to the subagents themselves. A follow-up 0.7.28 the same day fixed ContextHubBackend.glob so it honors its path argument. Source

2. Deep Agents Code 0.1.86 Adds NVIDIA OpenShell as a Sandbox Provider

LangChain. Deep Agents Code 0.1.86, LangChain’s terminal coding agent, adds NVIDIA OpenShell as a sandbox provider for running agent work in isolation. It also shows a banner and a footer indicator when a prompt cache expires, so users can see when the next turn will be billed without cache hits. Other changes include /resume as a command alias, clearer errors when Groq tool limits are reached, and more accurate reporting of workspace refusals when resuming a thread. Source
