Microsoft AI Updates: October 16, 2026
1. GitHub Agentic Autofix for Code Scanning Alerts Reaches General Availability
Microsoft. Agentic autofix for code scanning alerts is now generally available to GitHub Code Security and GitHub Advanced Security customers on GitHub Enterprise Cloud, including data residency. When an alert is assigned to Copilot, it explores relevant files, proposes a fix, reruns CodeQL to confirm the alert is closed, and opens a draft pull request with a summary and validation steps. Users can assign up to 25 alerts to Copilot for a single combined pull request, or assign via the REST API using copilot-swe-agent[bot]. The feature requires an enterprise admin to enable a new “Agentic autofix” policy, and it consumes Code Security AI Credits plus GitHub Actions minutes. Source
2. GitHub AI Scan for Pull Requests Is Generally Available
Microsoft. AI Scan for pull requests is now generally available, finding vulnerabilities in pull request changes for languages and frameworks CodeQL does not cover, including PHP, Shell/Bash, Terraform HCL, Dockerfiles, JSP, and Blazor. Findings appear next to CodeQL results with an “AI” indicator and can include an explanation and suggested autofix, but they are advisory and cannot fail checks or block merges. AI Scan is available for public repositories, requires Code Security or Advanced Security for private and internal repositories, does not require a Copilot license, and bills against Code Security AI Credits. 3. GitHub Copilot Will Deprecate Claude Opus 4.8, Claude Opus 5, and GPT-5.6 Terra on November 16
Microsoft. GitHub will remove Claude Opus 4.8, Claude Opus 5, and GPT-5.6 Terra from all Copilot experiences on November 16, 2026. The suggested replacements are Claude Opus 5.5 for both Claude models and GPT-6.1 Sol or GPT-6 Luna for GPT-5.6 Terra. Claude Opus 4.8 stays available to individual Copilot subscribers on annual plans, and under default model enablement the alternatives are turned on automatically for Copilot Business and Enterprise unless an admin has disabled them. 4. GitHub Copilot in Slack and Microsoft Teams Gains Multi-Repository Conversations
Microsoft. GitHub Copilot in Slack and Microsoft Teams can now work across multiple repositories in one conversation, for example listing open pull requests or summarizing recent activity across repositories. The update also lets users mention @GitHub anywhere in a message, switch repositories more easily, and have Copilot use shared Slack messages and threads as context, along with reliability fixes for task startup and interruption recovery.
