Meta AI Updates: October 16, 2026

1. Meta Releases Muse Spark Open, an 816B Open-Weight MoE Model for Coding and Agents

Meta. Meta released the weights for Muse Spark Open, a natively multimodal mixture-of-experts model with 816B total parameters (42B active) and a 1M-token context window, built for coding, long-horizon agentic work, and multi-step reasoning. Meta says it is the first model in its class to run on a desktop setup of two Apple M5 Ultra Mac Studios using the latest MLX release. The model is served through Baseten, Fireworks AI, Groq, Modal, Nebius, OpenRouter, and Together AI, with weights on Hugging Face, Amazon SageMaker AI, Google Cloud Model Garden, and Microsoft Foundry Models, and it runs on SGLang, vLLM, TensorRT-LLM, Transformers, MLX, llama.cpp, and Unsloth. Weights ship under the Muse Model License with limited commercial terms, and Meta says the model received additional safety post-training and met the release thresholds of its Superintelligence Scaling Framework.
