Apple AI Updates: October 4, 2026

Apple. Apple told developers it will add new controls around the macOS Full Disk Access permission, requiring “very explicit user action” before an app can read files, messages, mail, and browsing history. Apple said some developers use the permission in ways that expose a user’s entire system “without users’ full knowledge and understanding,” and that the risk will grow “as AI agents become increasingly capable and autonomous.” Apple did not name specific macOS versions, but desktop agent developers that rely on Full Disk Access should expect stricter consent flows.
