1. Google Is Retiring Gemini Gems and Migrating Them to Skills Starting November 17

Google. A banner in the Gemini Gems manager now tells users that Gems are being discontinued and will begin migrating to Skills on November 17, with existing Gems usable during the transition. Skills are currently limited to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and users with Gemini Spark access, and Google has not said whether free users will keep access to their migrated Gems. 2. Earth Engine Code Editor Gets Ask, a Gemini Assistant That Reads Your Script and Assets

Google. Google Earth Engine added Ask, a chat panel in the Code Editor that uses the user’s own Gemini API key to write, debug, explain, and optimize geospatial scripts, with context from the active script, imported assets and geometries, and session history. Generated code can be inserted through a side-by-side diff, and responses can be grounded in Earth Engine docs search, Data Catalog dataset search, or Google Search. At launch it supports Gemini 3 Flash Preview, Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview, and Gemini 3.5 Flash. Source
