1. Mistral Acquires SkipLabs, a Paris and London Startup Building Tools for Faster, More Reliable AI Code Generation
Mistral has acquired SkipLabs, a French startup that builds technology to make AI code generation faster, more reliable and more secure, for an undisclosed amount, Maddyness reported on November 5. SkipLabs was founded six years ago, has offices in Paris and London, and was started by Julien Verlaguet, a former Meta engineer of nearly nine years, whose team of engineers and scientists joins the group led by Guillaume Lample, Mistral’s cofounder and chief scientist. Verlaguet said the languages and type systems he built to catch errors before production assumed a person on the other side reading the error message, an assumption that no longer holds when AI writes the code, and that at Mistral the team can push these ideas into how models are trained. It is Mistral’s fifth acquisition of 2026, after Koyeb (cloud) in February, Emmi AI (industrial AI) in May, Pimento (advertising) in September and New Material (user-experience tools for AI) in October.
