1. Apple Intelligence Image Tools Now Embed Google’s SynthID Watermark, Starting in iOS 27.2
Apple now adds an invisible SynthID watermark to images created or edited with some Apple Intelligence tools, according to a new Apple support document reported by 9to5Mac on November 6. The watermark applies from iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2, which shipped the previous week, to Clean Up, Extend and Spatial Reframing in Photos and to Image Playground and Image Wand. Genuine photos in a user’s library are therefore tagged too once they are edited with Clean Up, Extend or Spatial Reframing, not only fully generated images. The mark cannot be seen on the image; Apple points users to synthid.com to upload a file and check for it. Apple had said in September that it planned to support Google’s SynthID alongside its Reference Image camera provenance feature. Source
