AWS AI Updates: October 9, 2026

1. GPT-6.1 Sol Gets Ultrafast Mode on Amazon Bedrock

AWS. Amazon Bedrock now offers OpenAI’s Ultrafast mode for GPT-6.1 Sol, a faster inference option aimed at latency-sensitive workloads such as real-time coding assistants, interactive agents, and customer-facing applications. It is available through the Bedrock console and supported Bedrock APIs, with standard AWS access controls and invocation auditing applied. AWS did not publish speed figures, Regions, or pricing in the announcement, pointing instead to the GPT-6.1 Sol model card in the Bedrock documentation. Source

2. Cost Explorer, Budgets, and Dashboards Break Down Bedrock Spend by Model and Provider

AWS. AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and Cost Management Dashboards gained a Bedrock product attribute dimension that splits spend by model (for example, Claude Sonnet 5), model provider, inference type (input versus output tokens), and feature (such as on-demand inference or reranker). Teams can group and filter by these attributes, set budgets that alert on a single model, and combine them with cost allocation tags on application inference profiles or IAM principal tags to tie model spend back to specific applications, users, or roles. The dimension is free and available in all commercial Regions except GovCloud (US) and the China Regions. Source

3. Incarna Uses AgentCore Payments to Let Agents Pay BlockRun per Inference Over x402

AWS. AWS detailed how Incarna used Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments so its agents can buy model inference one call at a time from BlockRun, an x402-based router serving more than 90 models from over 15 providers. When BlockRun returns HTTP 402, the agent calls ProcessPayment, and AgentCore checks the quote against a session spending cap enforced outside the model, then signs from a customer-owned Coinbase CDP wallet with settlement in USDC on Base. Both x402 exact and upto schemes are supported. Incarna finished the integration in three days with about 200 lines of code, against two to three months originally scoped, and has processed over 1,000 payments of $0.001 to $0.05 each during the beta.
