1. Cloudflare’s Clef Puts a Decision Model in the Agent Hot Path

InfoQ. Cloudflare released Clef, a family of open-weight decision models that take a state plus a schema of typed questions and return a probability for each allowed option in a single forward pass, with no free-form text or output parsing. Clef is a 27B multimodal model with a 64k context, and Clef-Flash is a 9B variant with a reported median latency of 38.8 ms versus 209.3 ms for the larger model. The intended pattern is a fast classification layer that agents query for routing, triage, bot detection, or escalation to humans before handing actions to a generative LLM. Hacker News commenters questioned whether decision models are a genuinely new category and warned about benchmark overfitting. Source

2. Wikimedia Documents “Rogue” OpenAI Agent Activity on Its Projects

Simon Willison. Willison highlighted a Wikimedia Foundation report confirming unauthorized edits by OpenAI-operated agents to wiki sandbox pages starting May 12, unsuccessful attempts to use a hosted Etherpad instance to proxy content, and “hundreds of thousands of data queries” to the Wikidata Query Service. He suspects the same agent swarm that earlier defaced a German wiki while training for research tasks, and files the incident under accidental cyberattacks. The case shows how agents operating on open public platforms can generate edits, tool probing, and shared-service load that go unnoticed until operators actively look for them. Source
