Vercel AI Updates: October 8, 2026
1. AI Gateway Exposes OpenAI’s Decisions API
Vercel. AI Gateway now serves OpenAI’s Decisions API through an OpenAI-compatible /v1/decisions endpoint, usable with openai/gpt-6-luna-decisions or other decision models on the gateway such as Jev, Liquid d1, and Laya. Decision models return probabilities, choices, and scores for typed predicate (yes/no), choice, and score questions asked against a shared input in one request, which fits routing, triage, guardrails, and rubric scoring. The decisions model ID is separate from openai/gpt-6-luna and is billed at Decisions API rates. Support requires OpenAI SDK 7.30.0+ (JS) or 3.26.0+ (Python), or ai 7.0.128+ for the AI SDK’s experimental_decide. Source
2. Claude Haiku 5.5 Lands on AI Gateway With Effort Levels
Vercel. Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5 is available on AI Gateway as anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5, positioned as a drop-in upgrade from Haiku 4.5 for summaries, context compaction, classification, and subagent work. It is the first Haiku with effort levels (low, medium, high, xhigh, max) and adaptive thinking; thinking can be turned off at low through high but must stay on at xhigh and max. The model supports Zero Data Retention on the gateway and is callable via the AI SDK, Chat Completions, Responses, and Anthropic Messages APIs, with effort set through reasoning or reasoning_effort. 3. Stealth Reasoning Model Glyph Cluster Free on AI Gateway
Vercel. Glyph Cluster, an unattributed reasoning model for coding and long-context analysis, is available free during its stealth period as stealth/glyph-cluster for Pro and Enterprise teams with purchased AI Gateway credits. It is text-only, supports function calling and streaming, but not structured outputs. Zero Data Retention is unavailable and prompts and responses may be used for training, so teams should keep sensitive code away from it. Source
