AWS AI Updates: August 22, 2026

1. Amazon Bedrock Cuts Pricing for OpenAI GPT-5.6 Sol

AWS. Amazon Bedrock reduced pricing for OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol model to $4 per million input tokens, a 20% cut, and $20 per million output tokens, a 33.3% cut, through a promotional period running to November 21, 2026. AWS positions Sol for autonomous coding agents, multi-step analysis, and research workflows, citing state of the art results on agentic coding benchmarks. The reduction follows earlier price cuts for the GPT-5.6 Terra and Luna models, making the Sol tier more viable for high-volume production workloads. Source

2. Amazon Connect Customer Adds Conversational Data Analysis for Managers

AWS. Amazon Connect Customer now lets contact center managers query performance data in plain language through its AI Agents and receive an answer, supporting evidence, and a recommended fix. The assistant searches across more than 150 metrics spanning self-service, agent performance, and queue performance, and supports multi-turn conversations where managers can start broad and drill down. For example, a manager can ask which queues are the best automation candidates, and the system returns a prioritized list ranked by confidence score and projected impact, work AWS says previously required analysts and dashboards over multiple weeks. The feature is available in all regions where Amazon Connect Customer AI Agents are supported. Source
