AWS AI Updates: August 14, 2026
1. OpenAI’s Daybreak Red and Blue Cybersecurity Models Land on Amazon Bedrock
AWS. OpenAI’s Daybreak Blue (GPT-5.6 Sol) and Daybreak Red (GPT-5.6 Cyber) cybersecurity models are now available to eligible organizations on Amazon Bedrock in US East (N. Virginia). Daybreak Blue targets standard defensive work such as vulnerability discovery, detection engineering, and incident response, while Daybreak Red handles authorized deep-investigation tasks like vulnerability research and exploit reproduction, pairing a lower refusal threshold with stricter identity verification and access controls. The models run on Bedrock’s next-generation inference engine with zero-operator access enforced at the chip level, inference data is not used for training, and access requires approval through OpenAI’s Daybreak program coordinated with an AWS account team. 2. Claude Opus 5 Reaches AWS GovCloud with Zero Data Retention by Default
AWS. Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5 is now available in AWS GovCloud (US), reachable through the bedrock-runtime endpoint in both GovCloud regions and the bedrock-mantle endpoint in GovCloud (US-West). Amazon Bedrock offers the model with zero data retention enabled by default, keeping inference data inside AWS infrastructure with regional residency for government and regulated workloads. The move gives agencies access to Anthropic’s most capable coding and long-document reasoning model, including agents that can run extended multi-hour operations with error recovery, without data leaving AWS or being retained by Anthropic.
