1. Claude Opus 5 Arrives On Amazon Bedrock And The Claude Platform On AWS
AWS. AWS announced that Claude Opus 5, Anthropic’s most advanced Opus model, is now available on both Amazon Bedrock and the Claude Platform on AWS, positioned for coding across large codebases, long-running agents that operate for hours or overnight while recovering from errors, and document-heavy enterprise analysis. On Amazon Bedrock the model runs with zero data retention (ZDR) enabled by default, keeping customer data within AWS infrastructure with regional residency, while the Claude Platform on AWS provides access through the AWS Console with ZDR available on request. The dual delivery paths let teams choose between the Bedrock API and Anthropic’s platform without moving data outside AWS. Source
2. AWS Releases aws-bench, An Open-Source Benchmark For AI Agents On AWS
AWS. AWS released aws-bench, an open-source benchmark that measures how accurately and efficiently AI agents complete real-world AWS tasks, with each test case pairing a natural-language query to a defined cloud resource state and a ground-truth answer so different agents and models can be scored consistently. The test cases span investigation, troubleshooting, and infrastructure creation tasks derived from actual AWS usage patterns, and the package ships a CLI tool to instantiate testing environments, execute and score evaluation runs, and reset resource state. Available now on GitHub, it targets model providers and AI researchers who need a reproducible way to compare agent performance on cloud operations. Source
3. Kiro Adds Claude Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5, And User Activity Monitoring In AWS GovCloud (US)
AWS. AWS made Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Sonnet 5 available in Kiro, its IDE and CLI, in AWS GovCloud (US) regions, and introduced a User Activity Monitoring feature for organizational oversight. Both models include a 1M-token context window, with Opus 4.8 billed at a 2.2x credit multiplier and Sonnet 5 at 1.3x plus experimental cross-region inference support. User Activity Monitoring provides a dashboard of aggregate usage metrics, daily CSV reports delivered to Amazon S3 covering credits, model usage, and telemetry, and optional prompt logging for compliance and debugging, with all monitoring data retained in the customer’s own AWS account and no charges beyond S3 storage.
