1. Apple’s LEAD Targets The No-Recovery Bottleneck In Long-Horizon Reasoning
Apple. Apple researchers examined why large language models become unstable during long-horizon execution and identified what they call a no-recovery bottleneck, where errors are distributed non-uniformly and the model fails to recover once it slips off track. To address this, they propose Lookahead-Enhanced Atomic Decomposition (LEAD), which incorporates short-horizon future validation and aggregates candidate solutions to keep reasoning on course. The work aims to make multi-step reasoning and agent execution more reliable over longer task sequences. Source
