1. Fireworks’ Ember-1 Reasoning Model Arrives on AI Gateway as a Research Preview

Vercel. Vercel added Ember-1, a reasoning model from Fireworks built on Kimi K3 and aimed at coding and agentic workflows, to AI Gateway under the model ID fireworks/ember-1. The model supports a 1M-token context window, text and image input, tool calling, and implicit prompt caching, with Zero Data Retention and no-prompt-training options, and Fireworks reports it generates about 40% fewer tokens than Kimi K3 at comparable quality. It is offered as a research preview with an initial two-week window and can be called through the AI Gateway API, Chat Completions, Claude Code, and Codex. Source
