1. Compass Cloud Enters Private Beta as a Managed Retrieval Service

Cohere opened a private beta of Compass Cloud, a managed version of its Compass retrieval platform where Cohere runs the full pipeline of document processing, indexing, embedding, and reranking plus model inference. Teams can reach it through the Compass API for custom RAG and search apps or through an MCP server for agentic retrieval, while self-hosted deployments remain available for privacy-constrained projects. Cohere cites a 14 to 16 point retrieval accuracy gain over traditional search infrastructure on financial industry benchmarks. Access is limited to a small number of enterprise teams via an early access request. Source
