1. Apple Reference Image Signs Sensor Data Through Private Cloud Compute

Apple. The iPhone 18 Pro main camera captures signed sensor data alongside the photo, and Private Cloud Compute turns that into what Apple calls an unalterable image, effectively a digital negative. Users can diff an edited photo against the reference inside Photos to see whether it has been altered, including by AI. Reference images are currently viewable only in Apple’s Photos app, but developer APIs are shipping so third-party apps can integrate the check.
