1. Gemini and AI Mode Test a Buy Button That Hands Off to Flipkart Checkout

Google. Google is testing direct purchases from Walmart-owned Flipkart inside Gemini and AI Mode in India, showing a “Buy” button on select product listings for a limited group of users. The test covers a small set of products, mainly smartphones, electronics, and mobile accessories, and tapping the button opens a Flipkart-branded checkout flow rather than the Google-hosted checkout the company demonstrated earlier. It is not clear whether the test runs on Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol. A broader rollout is planned for later in October, ahead of India’s festive shopping season. Source
