1. Claude Code Brings Auto Mode to Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry

Anthropic. Claude Code v2.1.158 extends Auto mode to the Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex, and Microsoft Foundry deployment platforms for Opus 4.7 and Opus 4.8, opt-in by setting the CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_AUTO_MODE=1 environment variable. The change lets teams running Claude Code through a cloud provider rather than Anthropic’s direct API use the same automatic effort-selection behavior previously limited to first-party access. A follow-up tag, v2.1.159, shipped on May 31 with infrastructure-only changes and no user-facing features. Source
