Google AI Updates: May 29, 2026

1. Google Cloud Launches AI Cyber-Defense Platform to Close Gaps “In Minutes”

Google. Google Cloud rolled out an automated security platform that identifies and patches enterprise vulnerabilities on a timescale of minutes, pitched explicitly as a response to AI-accelerated attacks that now compress the window between disclosure and exploitation. The framing matters more than the feature list: Google is conceding that the defender side now has to run at machine speed too, and is positioning autonomous remediation rather than human-in-the-loop triage as the baseline. The open question for security teams is how much blast radius they are willing to hand an agent that patches production without review. Source

2. YouTube Adds AI Podcast Recommendation Tool and Auto Speed

Google. YouTube shipped a set of AI features aimed at its podcast push, including a recommendation engine for surfacing relevant shows and an “Auto speed” mode that adjusts playback pace based on content and listening context. The recommendation play is the strategic piece: YouTube is the de facto podcast platform by watch time now, and steering discovery with its own models is how it intends to keep that lead against Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
