OpenAI AI Updates: November 1, 2026

1. OpenAI Will Train on Daybreak Blue Session Data Starting November 29, Then Promises a Separate Opt-Out

OpenAI told members of its Trusted Access program by email that, starting November 29, 2026, it will use Daybreak Blue session data to train its models. Until now, Daybreak Blue sessions were excluded from training regardless of the account’s “improve the model for everyone” setting. After members pushed back, OpenAI sent a second email promising a separate opt-out for this data, and interactions flagged during safety reviews can still be used for safety purposes. Daybreak is OpenAI’s gated access tier for cyber-capable model use, so the change affects security teams that run vulnerability research and client code through it; The Decoder reports that researchers cite the Buckmaster-Alpöge case, in which mathematicians uploaded Navier-Stokes drafts to Codex before OpenAI presented its own proof while denying it had trained on their inputs.
