1. TELUS Digital Reports Early Cancellations Cut by More Than Half With an ElevenAgents Outbound Voice Agent
ElevenLabs published a deployment write-up on October 30 about an outbound voice agent that TELUS Digital built on ElevenAgents to call newly activated TELUS home internet customers in their first weeks of service. The agent identifies itself as an AI and asks for consent before discussing the account, explains prorated first bills, points customers to self-serve tools, and prompts customers with both home and mobile services to link their accounts for a bundle discount. For billing questions it sends a one-time SMS passcode, authenticates the caller without leaving the call, and answers only from live data returned by TELUS billing APIs; account changes, complex troubleshooting and requests for a person are routed to TELUS staff. Across about 2,300 proof-of-concept calls, TELUS reports that 30-day cancellations among customers who received a welcome call ran at less than half the rate of the broader new-activation cohort, calls averaged an 8.5 out of 10 rating, the agent reached the right person on 19% of calls (in line with TELUS’s best human outbound agents), and about C$55,000 in lifetime revenue was retained per 1,000 customers reached. The agent went from vendor engagement to its first customer call in about six weeks, including security review, privacy review and API integration, and TELUS has five more use cases in development.
