OpenAI AI Updates: October 23, 2026

1. Decisions API Reaches General Availability on GPT-6 Luna

OpenAI. OpenAI made the Decisions API (v1/decisions) generally available with gpt-6-luna, positioning it as a way to get “fast, focused, low-cost decisions for any application.” The endpoint returns typed answers to developer-defined questions (conditions, fixed-option selections, rubric scores) over text and images instead of free-form text, and OpenAI said at the October 6 beta launch that it returns answers 10x faster than the Responses API. The GA release adds prompt-cache discounts for input shared across requests, images inside individual question instructions, and structured data passed directly via input_json. Each request now supports up to 400 questions, up from 200 during the public beta. Source Source
