1. Codex CLI 0.153.3 Adds GPT-6 Astra to the Amazon Bedrock Model Picker

OpenAI. The release wires GPT-6 Astra into the Amazon Bedrock model picker for the Mantle and Runtime global and US routes, giving Bedrock-routed Codex sessions access to the model launched earlier in the week. It also corrects Astra’s guidance for asynchronous clarification questions so the model uses the supported tool and recognizes that the tool accepts text only. Source

2. Codex CLI 0.153.4 Makes Astra the Bundled Default

OpenAI. The follow-up release fixes Astra’s visibility in the bundled model picker and promotes it to the bundled default when no model is explicitly configured, so a fresh Codex install now lands on Astra rather than the previous generation. The release also narrows Astra’s asynchronous-question guidance to sessions where the tool is actually available. Source
