Perplexity. Perplexity launched Portable Computer, a version of its agentic Computer platform that runs entirely on hardware users already own, starting with NVIDIA DGX Spark desktops and Linux machines equipped with NVIDIA RTX GPUs. Built with NVIDIA, it runs the open-source Qwen 3.8 27B model alongside a PPLX 27B variant that Perplexity optimized for the DGX Spark, and any task completed locally consumes no billing credits. The system runs every task on-device by default and asks permission before sending an individual step to a more powerful frontier model in the cloud. Source
