1. Cursor Router Now Powers Auto Mode

Cursor. Cursor announced that Auto mode is now powered by Cursor Router, a request-level classifier that analyzes each coding request and sends it to the most suitable model, using frontier models for demanding work and price-efficient models for routine tasks. It offers three optimization modes, Intelligence for maximum quality, Balance for strong everyday quality, and Cost for good quality with reduced token spend. The router is enabled by default on Teams plans and available across desktop, web, iOS, CLI, and SDK, with admins able to set the default mode, restrict which modes members use, and allow or block underlying models, which Cursor says delivers frontier quality at 30 to 50 percent lower enterprise cost.
