NVIDIA AI Updates: May 23, 2026
1. NVIDIA ships MAISI-v2 with 33x faster 3D medical image synthesis and a 100,000-study open MRI dataset
NVIDIA. NVIDIA released NV-Generate-CTMR and NV-Generate-MR-Brain, two open-source frameworks built on its MAISI architecture for synthesizing high-resolution 3D CT and MRI volumes with paired anatomical segmentation masks, aimed at addressing data scarcity, privacy restrictions, and annotation costs that bottleneck radiology AI development. MAISI-v2 swaps the original latent denoising diffusion backbone for latent rectified flow, cutting inference from 1,000 steps down to 30 and delivering a 33x speedup over MAISI-v1 while supporting volumes up to 512x512x256 for brain scans and 512x512x768 for whole-body CT. NVIDIA also published MR-RATE, described as the world’s largest open-source multimodal MRI dataset, with 100,000 brain MRI studies from over 83,000 patients spanning 700,000 volumes with paired de-identified radiology reports and DICOM metadata, and pointed to early research adoption across tumor segmentation, cancer classification, lesion detection, cross-modality synthesis, and tractography.
