1. xAI’s Grok Build 0.1 beta lands on the Vercel AI Gateway as a reasoning-only agentic coding model

xAI. xAI’s Grok Build 0.1 beta, the model that powers the Grok Build CLI, is now exposed through the Vercel AI Gateway as xai/grok-build-0.1, available to any AI SDK consumer without separately provisioning xAI credentials. The model is positioned as a coding model trained for agentic work, runs with fixed reasoning effort, and ships without a non-reasoning mode, so latency and cost trade-offs that other gateway models offer are not available on Grok Build. The placement is the first time Grok Build has shown up through a third-party model router and pulls xAI’s coding stack into the same selection menu developers use to compare against Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini 3.5 Flash for agentic coding workloads.
