2. Vercel Updates Security Bulletin: Context.ai Compromise Behind Employee Account Breach

Vercel. Vercel continued to update its April 2026 security bulletin on April 20 and 21 disclosing unauthorized access to certain internal systems. The attack chain originated with a compromise of third-party AI tool Context.ai, which let an attacker take over a Vercel employee’s Google Workspace account and access non-sensitive (plaintext) environment variables for a limited customer subset. Vercel has engaged Mandiant, validated that npm packages were untampered as of April 20, and is shipping changes such as defaulting new environment variables to “sensitive.” Source
