1. DeepMind Partners With EVE Online Maker to Advance Game-Playing Agents

Google. Google DeepMind announced a research partnership with the studio behind EVE Online to use the game’s persistent universes, including EVE Online, EVE Vanguard, and EVE Frontier, as testbeds for AI agents. The work centers on SIMA 2, a Gemini-powered agent that follows natural language instructions using standard keyboard and mouse controls, and targets open problems such as continual learning, long-horizon memory and planning, and multi-agent cooperation and competition.
