2. Elon Musk Provides Grok 5 Timeline: May to Approach Opus 4.6, June to Match

xAI. Elon Musk stated that Grok 5 “will take until May to be close to Opus 4.6 and June to match and maybe exceed,” providing the most specific public timeline yet for xAI’s next-generation model. Grok 5 is reportedly a 6-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model currently training on the 1-gigawatt Colossus 2 supercluster in Memphis, with the cluster expanding to 1.5 GW. Source
