1. Bank of England to Discuss Mythos Cybersecurity Risks with Financial Institutions
Anthropic. The Bank of England announced it will discuss the impact of Anthropic’s Mythos AI model with financial institutions, joining US and Canadian regulators in raising alarms over the model’s cybersecurity capabilities. Mythos will be on the agenda for the BOE’s Cross Market Operational Resilience Group and CMORG AI Taskforce meetings within the next two weeks, with representatives from the Treasury, the Financial Conduct Authority, and the National Cyber Security Centre. 2. Bank of Canada Convenes Major Lenders on Mythos AI Cyber Risk
Anthropic. The Bank of Canada convened its Canadian Financial Sector Resiliency Group with the country’s six largest banks, Desjardins Group, the Department of Finance, and the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions to assess cybersecurity risks posed by Anthropic’s Mythos model. The meeting followed similar urgent discussions in the US where Treasury Secretary Bessent and Fed Chair Powell summoned Wall Street leaders earlier in the week, making Canada the second country to formally convene financial regulators over the model’s capabilities.
