Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch met with Samsung Electronics device solutions chief Jeon Young-hyun at Samsung’s Hwaseong campus to discuss collaboration on AI chip supply chains and memory technology. Mensch was in South Korea during French President Macron’s visit to Seoul. Mistral is seeking to secure a stable supply of Samsung’s high-bandwidth memory chips to support its Mistral Large language model and expand its AI infrastructure, reflecting growing pressure on AI companies to lock in their own semiconductor supply rather than relying on traditional distribution channels.
