2. Codex 0.118.0 Adds Windows Sandbox Security and Device-Code Sign-In
OpenAI. OpenAI released Codex 0.118.0 on April 1, 2026, adding OS-level egress rules for Windows sandbox proxy-only networking to improve security beyond environment-variable-based controls. The release also adds a device-code sign-in flow for ChatGPT to help when browser-based login proves unreliable, supports the prompt-plus-stdin workflow for piped input alongside command-line prompts, and enables custom model providers to fetch and refresh short-lived bearer tokens dynamically. Several bug fixes address Linux sandbox reliability, terminal UI regressions affecting /copy and /resume, and MCP startup robustness. Source
